Weekend Fun
A look at our weekend.
Muffin cooking with Zen.
Library storytime with Zen.
Corn on the cob with Zen and Momma.
This weekend St. Bernard's church across the street had their annual Autumn Festival. They have games, food and live music. Our intent was to have a Garage sale to capitalize on the traffic but it rained most of the morning and so we forfeited the sale and just had fun with the Perdue's.
We still have our old mattress and it made a great lounge area and trampoline.
Derek is teaching Teri how to make her own beer.

My new babies
No, I'm not talking about the kittens, nor am I talking about Vin. My new babies are these red cowboy boots. I got them last Saturday in San Saba, Texas at Harry's.
When you walk in the store they have t-shirts that say "Got Boots?"
When I walked in my answer was "No". When I walked out my answer was "Yes I do!"
My foot feels like it's meet it's soul mate and they remind me of one of my all time favorite movie roles, Ariel in Footloose.

Autum is a State of Mind
We had a few cool days last week that left us all wanting more, meanwhile the heat index this weekend reached 101 degrees. Therefore I’ve decided that autumn is a state of mind. I’ve bought some fall foliage and have begun work on my seasonal outdoor pillows and décor. So far this is what we’ve got. Despite my intense desire for summer to be over Vin and I cooled off yesterday with a Baskin Robbins treat.

The Craft Room is Finished!
This post has been a long time coming. The craft studio is finished and I finally got to sew something yesterday!
The pictures below show just a few of my fantastic friends who came to work. I am so grateful to everyone who helped make this happen. It was a lot of hard and dirty work and I appreciate every bit of their time and effort!
And now the big reveal!
I chose a happy yellow for the walls and a soothing blue for the floors. These colors were chosen just after returning from Florida so I must have been inspired by Deana’s beachy house. All the future was painted black so that all the mixed pieces had a consistent look.
Teri bought me this large storage unit. I've divided my fabrics up by color and print. It's so nice to have everything in one place that is easy to see and easy to access.

This book shelf holds magazines and old enclclopedia’s that Vin can cut pictures out of. It also has my old Childcraft books.
All three windows have stained glass that I got from my Grandmother Taylor. In fact, the green side table, rug and the large hutch also came from her.

This is my actual sewing table but at the time the picture was taken I hadn't moved my machine out yet.
Teri modified a table we had to make it a raised cutting table. (My back thanks her!) It sits in the center of the room so I can work from it on all sides. It’s not shown in these pictures except for a corner here and there.
My favorite thing about the room is that I don’t have to clean it up. Finally my sewing machine has a home and she will live there until she dies. No longer will she be hauled from the closet to the dining room table. Half finished projects can stay where they are until I have time to get back to them.

Flashback Friday
We're working our way toward the big reveal on the studio. Here are the before pictures from last summer. Remember this is the way the room looked when we bought the house and this is the room that sold me. I could see the possiblities through all the junk, dirt and chemicals.
It's been along process and I'm so close to getting to show it off.
