With Vin’s 4th birthday, Mother’s Day and Reese’s birth it’s all hit me lately just how fast it really goes by. I know that everyone says this, but it’s really true. Vin’s growing and changing so fast that I wanted to capture his 3rd year in a glance…
This year Vin discovered cars, all kinds of cars, and we set his room up with a car corner. Some of his favorites are, Lightening McQueen, Mater & Francesco and he got Cars sheet set for his birthday.
He calls side mirrors “ear mirrors”
He’s now enjoying super heroes.
One of his favorite toys this year was his Jeep, his red polka dot blanket, he still loves the Good Humor Man and playing with ice cream toys.
He is also very interested in the growth of our garden and loves to monitor the progress.
This year Vin learned his ABC’s but left out H most of the time. He can now count to 20 sequentially but can go much higher but not in order. He quit saying eleventeen and twelveteen.
He also loved rhyming words and phonetically spelling out words to us, making us repeat after him.
He still sometimes replaces R’s with F’s, so the remote is the fermote and instead of disgusting he says pagusting.
He quit saying “Mommy pick you up” instead he now says “Mommy pick me up”. It’s kind of sad when they self correct themselves and one day he just stopped saying it the wrong way and replaced it with the right way. Other thing he’s stopped doing is using the –ED ending on words. For the longest time he’d say things like…
“I forgotED” or “I drinkED”
This year Vin started taking a bath by himself, brushing his teeth by himself, getting out of bed and coming to us instead of yelling for us to come get him, he took gymnastics classes and soccer, and he learned how to swing himself on his swing.
For Vin’s 4th birthday we had two separate celebrations. This actual birthday party was held two weeks ago and we all went to the carnival across the street then came here. We had a piƱata and an ice cream sunday bar.
Then we celebrated his true birthday this weekend with family and friends by going to the Magic Time Machine for dinner. These two parties totally confused him and he began saying he was now 5 because he turned 4 at the first party so now he must be 5.
Hopefully Teri worked it out with him this morning by telling him that he would miss all his 4 year stuff like Christmas and going to Florida for Thanksgiving , swim lessons this summer etc.
