Brie and Chive Biscuits

Tonight Vin and I made these delicious biscuits. The cheese was left over from last Thursday night and I hated for it to go to waste.
I know that some people are scared to bake bread but it’s really easy. A lot of the recipes I use don’t require yeast which simplifies things a bit.
If you’re hesitant to bake bread – just jump on in and try this recipe.

Ridiculous

This morning Vin went to school wearing his farmer t-shirt, a orange polka-dot tie (aka boy necklace) and a striped sock for a glove. Honestly, I was just glad he put his clothes on without throwing a fit.

In other news, the kittens were fond of huddling under the refrigerator to keep warm and we were scared they were going to get smashed. Teri devised a genius heating pad in Vin's old bouncy chair. They are ridiculously comfortable and I'm jealous.
Note that all 5 kittens are in each picture. C-O-Z-Y!

Flashback Monday

I've got nothing exciting to post so here's a flashback from 1 year ago.

First time out of the shoot

Here's Vin steer wrestling at the Pee Wee Stampede. He was so good! He rodeos in our living room everyday as he watches the Vegas PRCA Finals on DVD.
Actually getting to be in a real rodeo must have blown his mind. One minute he's looking at a 2 ton pig and the next he's got a number pinned on his back ready to compete.
We are so proud!

State Fair Here We Come!

The stars aligned this year for a fun filled family day at the fair. Mat was in town from Colorado and Patty flew in from Amarillo. Luckily Teri was in town too and so we all got to go to the fair together.

Mayme and Vin in front of Big Tex.

A clever storage place for Vin in the side tool box of a pickup truck.

Fried Frito Pie - Delicious!

Ordering Fried Bacon, again Delicious! I loved it and ate about 4 pieces dipped in honey mustard.

Vin loved it too and yes he ate all the trash we ate. How could you deny him the full fair experience?

Us in a photo booth. Look at the excitement in his eyes.

Luckily Vin was 32 inches tall and could ride the rides. But the most entertaining thing of the day was Vin's participation in the PeeWee Stampede. The minimum age was 3 but I knew he had the skills necessary to compete. His age group did the steer wrestling, I plan on making a separate post with video on this soon.

So proud of his second place ribbon.
On to the petting zoo where we got to feed the Scottish Highland Cattle, one of my all time favorite things to do ever!! They are so stinkin' cute with their strawberry blond hair and their squatty bodies. Someday I will have one of my own - I promise.

End of the day corn dog eating.

Pinkalicious Cupcakes

Teri left town on Saturday morning (for a 7:30 flight !!) and so I pre-planned my single Mom weekend with activities at the ready. Vin is still in love with his Pinkalicous book and he enjoys cooking with us so we made our very own strawberry cupcakes.

Enjoying his hard work on the front porch.

Sharing with Drew for an after school snack.

Two Little Suckers

This fall I've been keeping Drew after school on Monday's and Wednesday's and then Erin keeps them on Tuesday's and Thursday's. It's always a crap shoot on what the afternoon will be like. Drew and Vin like each other very much, but they're two and unpreditable. Mostly they are super cute like Thursday when Erin gave them ring suckers.
