Before we went to the parade, I had a small talk with Vin about why were were going and what it meant. I kept it simple but I laid the foundation for him to understand and for him to be proud of who we are.
Vincent had a fantastic time. He is really into rainbows, and I mean really into rainbows. He talks about rainbow cars, rainbow hair, rainbow pencils all the time. He mentions rainbows at least 10 times a day - I'm not kidding.
For example, at school they have a treasure box for a reward system.
For his first pick into the treasure box he said, "Mom, I saw that rainbow pencil and I just snatched it right up!" He was so pleased with it.
We knew he was going to just loose it when he saw all the rainbows at the parade, and we were not disappointed.
About the middle of the day, he looked up at me and said "Mom, thank you for bringing me to this, I'm having a really nice time." He was so sincere I scooped him up and cried into his neck. Then because he knew he hit my sweet spot, he poured it on thick and said, "and you look beautiful today."
At that point, I almost melted into the sidewalk!

Everyone gave him a string of beads and made sure he was taken care of. He had is picture made several times and ate all the attention right up.
