A Pretty Darn Good Friday

We started with breakfast at the Garden Cafe with Wesley & Katherine. The Mommies love this place since it is so beautiful with the gardens and a private and contained playground for the kids.

After Vin's nap we filled his pool up for the first time this spring.

I just love his little body. He still has lots of chubby baby fat and great thighs. He is a great help in the garden. We ended the day with beer brats and hamburgers on the grill.

Our Weekend

Warning: Extremely long post ahead

We made a kamikaze trip to Llano on Saturday morning and stayed a whopping 23 hours. But each hour was totally worth it. We got to see Cassie, Sallie Rose, Mat, Jaime, Tara. Luckily the sun came out just long enough to enjoy some wild flowers and craw fish at the festival.

When we got back on Sunday we took the A Peep at the Coops tour of urban chicken coops in our neighborhood. I enjoyed the chickens but was much more interested in the beautiful backyards that the chickens live in.

Kitchen Helpers

Jackson is the seasoner and Vin is the taster. From the look on his face I think Vin approves. Such good helpers!

2. His love of pillows which he calls Peeo’s
3. The way he still gets his opposites confused. Up is down and down is up.
4. Random counting 1 2 5 8 4 7 2 and 10 is always followed by a yea!!!
5. I taught him to say “I’m smart” while pointing to his head but it comes out as I’m mart.

Things I don’t love so much right now:
1. Aggressive hugging of other children.
2. Head butting and full on body presses of other kids.
3. Mine! Mine! Mine!

Hill Country Scenery

We're heading to Llano this weekend for the Crawfish Festival and to visit with Cassie and Sallie Rose from Georgia.
Mayme sent a preview of the scenery at her house to get us excited.

A Day at the Zoo

This was my first trip to the Dallas Zoo even though I've lived here for 15 years. Vin and I got their early and toured the gorillas and penguins before we met up with Zen and Drayce. I've got great video of these guys running around to post later but here are the still shots first.

Easter 2010

We had a perfectly lovely Easter holiday surrounded by lots and lots of family, friends, food and chocolate. I'd forgotten how fun Easter is. It’s a special holiday but doesn’t come with the stress and anxiety of Christmas. I’m already looking forward to next year when perhaps Vin will take more interest in finding the eggs rather than just throwing them.

We started our morning off at the Walter's. We just love this family! They live on our block and Vin and Zen are in the same class. Since they have 4 kids, it's always fun to do group activities, like egg hunt or build snow men,with them.

We took a collection up and hid two money eggs worth $45.00 a piece. Teri also filled the eggs with lottery tickets and other fun prizes.
