Art

My sister is now selling her art on Etsy. She does very interesting paintings and I particularly like the birthday paintings.

Here is one but you can check out her other work at Redtop Workshop and you can check out her blog.

"This painting will be custom made for your child. This 12x12 is an original painting created to showcase a child's birthday. It is stretched canvas with a picture of the child's face, acrylic paint, newspaper clippings from the day of the child's birthday, pencil, graphic letters, and oil pastels. This painting can be customized with color, size(changes price), and any other special ideas."

Balloons!

Vin and I have resumed our weekly trips to the children's library at the North Park Mall. He loves the class called "Baby Bounce" where they sing songs and read stories. They have all kinds of fun stuff for the babies to play with like shaker eggs, tambourines, scarves and balloons. The eggs and balloons are his favorite and I've seen him take out two other kids in pursuit!

Today Katherine and Wesley met us for lunch and then we went to the library. We had a great time!

2 Random Pictures

This is his new smile. He tilts his head back, sqinches up his face and smiles as big as he can. We love it!

Henry and Vin are becoming big buddies, and although it doesn't look like it here, Henry really like him. In this picture Vin found Emma's pacifier that she left on Saturday. It's much too little for him and it's pink but that didn't stop him.

Authentic Living

I'm in love with this picture of my friend Wendy, taken by her son Jackson. There is something so sweet and pure about her hanging their laundry out to dry on a sunny day while holding Kira. Words like genuine and authentic come to mind as well and it just makes me happy to look at it.

Fruit & Flowers

Fruit

Last night we went to the Wit Gallery to see Edible Goodness by Emily Lamberty. It is a photography show of beautiful, juicy, colorful fruit. Each picture is accompanied by an explanation of the natural healing properties of the fruit. Vin ate 3 1/2 strawberries in a row (the last one dropped on the floor), and you could tell that he was so happy with this new taste discovery. We were both covered in red juice so I hope my white linen jacket lives to see another day.

Flowers

We've completed the yard for the most part. The big job of laying the sod is finished and we can't thank Jadi and Audrea enough for lending some muscle for this job. I'm so looking forward to hanging out and letting Vin crawl around in the grass and play. So far we've had to water it twice a day and it's been to wet and soggy too really enjoy it, however this morning we sat in the front for a while and Vin picked my flowers. This will probably be the only time I let him destroy my marigolds but he was having so much fun that I figured I could sacrifice a few blooms for my baby.

The Yard

Here are a series of before and after pictures of our backyard. When we first moved in there were weeds at least as tall as Teri - no lie! In the past 3 years we've cleared the weeds, put in a deck, laid a stone patio, installed the fountain, put up a fence and laid sod. I'm exhausted just thinking about it! We've had tons of help along the way and a few cold beers too. Soon we will be putting up the pool and I hope we can just relax and enjoy all our hard work.

Take Vin to Work Day

As a precaution we're not sending Vin to daycare this week. Today he went to work with Teri in the Test Kitchen while I was in class and she used a chip lexan to contain him.
